Kinke Group is proud to announce that we are currently in active negotiations to play a key role in two transformative infrastructure initiatives in Mombasa: the Affordable Housing Programme and the development of the Mombasa Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
These projects represent significant milestones in Kenya's economic transformation agenda, and Kinke Group is positioning itself as the integrated EPC partner of choice to deliver world-class infrastructure solutions.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAMME: BUILDING FOR KENYA'S FUTURE
As part of the government's commitment to addressing Kenya's housing deficit, the Affordable Housing Programme continues to gain momentum across the country . The program aims to deliver accessible, quality housing to lower and middle-income earners, with notable successes already recorded, including the New Mukuru Estate project where residents like Nexton Kinyua have become proud homeowners at 25 .
Kinke Group is currently in negotiations to contribute our integrated EPC expertise to affordable housing projects in Mombasa and the surrounding region. Our capability to deliver turnkey solutions from site preparation and earthworks to civil and structural works positions us as a strategic partner in accelerating housing delivery.
The Need is Urgent
Kenya faces an annual housing deficit of approximately 80%, with only 50,000 new houses built each year against a demand of 250,000 units . The government's Affordable Housing Programme, part of the broader economic transformation agenda, aims to bridge this gap by leveraging both public and private resources.
MOMBASA SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE (DONGO KUNDU): A GATEWAY TO PROSPERITY
The Mombasa Special Economic Zone at Dongo Kundu represents one of Kenya's flagship infrastructure projects under Vision 2030 . This transformative initiative is designed to position Kenya as a regional industrial and trade hub, leveraging the strategic location of the Port of Mombasa .
Key Project Highlights:
- Strategic Partnership: The project is backed by a $3 billion MoU between the Government of Kenya and Afrexim Bank, aimed at unlocking private-sector participation in strategic infrastructure development .
- Industrial Growth: The SEZ will facilitate industrial parks, manufacturing, agro-processing, and strengthen intra-Africa trade .
- Investor Enthusiasm: Kenya Ports Authority has received 97 applications for land allocation, requiring close to 7,000 acres .
- Community Commitment: KSh1.2 billion has been disbursed to 1,712 households as part of the Resettlement Action Plan, with KSh316 million allocated to fisherfolk in 10 Beach Management Units .
- International Support:Â The Government of Japan and JICA have provided a KSh37 billion concessional loan and a KSh6 billion grant to develop critical infrastructure at the SEZÂ .
